I’m a third-year actuarial student at ConU. After really enjoying being part of the executive team as the VP Finance in 2019-2020, I decided to join MASSA again, this time as the President. I will be in charge of coordinating all short and long-term goals, as well as plans and strategies that YOU wish to realize for your student association!
Besides my studies, I have completed internships at National Bank Insurance, Sun Life and Manulife, and I doing an internship at Munich Re. I am also the Director of Logistics and Finance for the Actuarial National Student Association (ASNA). Beside of that, I’m currently doing a research project entitled “Insurance strategies by derivative financial instruments: an approach by the artificial intelligence method”. If research interests you, let’s have a chat!
I really enjoy meeting new people, so feel free to send me a message!
I am a third-year student at Concordia University, where I am majoring in Mathematics & Statistics and Biology. I'm originally from Boston, but I decided to come to Montréal for university because it's such an exciting city. I joined MASSA to make sure students in the math department stay updated on all of our events and services and to reach out to students, particularly first years, in order to create a sense of community. I'm super excited to be working with you all this year! Do not hesitate to contact me for anything.
My name is Mengding and I am the VP External for 2020-2021. This will be my second year in Actuarial Mathematics/Finance, and I have passed two actuarial exams so far. I am motivated, hard-working and I truly listen to people around me. My goal this year is to improve student life by organizing amazing academic and social events and to create a MASSA Podcast that will benefit all students. Outside of school, I enjoy playing music, watching Tiktoks, eating tasty food and working out. I love meeting new people so don’t hesitate to message me!
Born and raised in the West Island of Montreal with a great passion for soccer. I discovered my interest in finance during my high school years where I had the chance to compete in a stock trading simulation. I am currently a second-year student majoring in Mathematics and Computational Finance in which I am looking forward in pursuing a career in quantitative finance. In my free time, I enjoy watching “Shark Tank”, playing chess, and lastly shorting the VIX.
My name is Philip Wheeler, and I am excited to take on the role of VP Internal for MASSA for the 2020-2021 school year. I am a second year co-op student in the Actuarial Mathematics program, and a first time executive for MASSA. As VP Internal, my tasks will be to represent the student body during ASFA and other meetings. My main goal as an executive is to represent the MASSA student body to the best of my ability, and ensure that their voices are heard throughout ASFA and the department. Despite the unusual circumstances of the upcoming school year, I am looking forward to getting to work, and am sure that all will go great.
Hello everyone, my name is Yeyang Xu and I am MASSA’s new VP Finance 2020-2021. I am known to be someone who gets the job done. I joined the Actuarial Mathematics/Finance program in hopes of learning more about Finance/Investment topics. If you had one thing to remember about me, it would be that I am someone who really loves shoes and enjoys playing basketball.
When I started studying actuarial mathematics at Concordia back in September 2019, I was dedicated to getting involved within my program and department. Since I was seeking challenges to grow, and I am always willing to help other achieve higher goals, I thought that joining the executive team of MASSA was a great opportunity for me. Being organized, sociable and a hard worker are skills I have acquired throughout the years and think are essential for an Acad Advisor who seeks academic growth for our association. This year, I will be able to represent all my fellow classmates and those to come, and it is truly an honour for me; I am very grateful to have been given this wonderful opportunity.
Big thank you to MASSA's committee members for joining the 2020-2021 team!
